Abstract:
Nonlinear Compton scattering (one-photon emission from an electron in a plane wave background) is shown to be infra-red divergent when the plane wave has subcycle structure. Examples with both soft and soft-collinear divergences are given. Particular attention is paid to the case of crossed fi elds.
