Abstract:
We develop a schematic model based on the Harmonic Oscillator Shell Model which includes a dipolar residual interaction. The model predicts the existence of two dipolar collective modes, clearly separated in energy. Higher energy centroid describes quite well the properties of Giant Dipole Resonance while the lower peak, close to the harmonic oscillator energy, corresponds to Pygmy Dipole Resonance. We estimate the Energy Weighted Sum Rule exhausted by each collective state and discuss the dependence of their properties on coupling parameters.
