Abstract:
Ambient suspended Particulate Matter (PM10, TSP) was collected from June 2008 to April 2009 in urban and rural sites of Bucharest region. The metallic species (Fe, Zn, Pb and Ni) were analyzed in this study for the winter period. The results showed that the mass concentrations of particulate are higher in the urban sites than in the rural site in this study. The ferromagnetic species were also analyzed by using magnetic susceptibility determined with very modern equipment Kappabridges MFK1. The results of diurnal variation at urban sampling sites are also discussed. Overall, the lead and nickel are more serious air pollutant issues in urban sites than at rural site. The suspended particulate matter monitoring in the Bucharest sites will be continuing in our following study to provide more information for the sources and composition of pollutants.
