Abstract:
As one of the master student assessment modalities is the elaboration of certain projects related to the courses topics we present in the next some basic coordinates in the monitoring of such a project. Since microwave wavelength is within centimeter range i.e. similar to the sizes of small living species or/and to the sizes of human body organs and tissues, those organisms can represent actual resonant cavities to the absorbed microwave radiation. Consequently both thermal and non-thermal effects are amplified through the resonance phenomenon. The resonator presentation is needed to be explicit – the focus being on the electromagnetic resonance phenomenon. Based on the knowledge provided by the course lessons the students are going to identify in the specialty literature specific techniques of drying materials, foods etc. So, microrowave resonance technology can be described as a non-destructive, non-chemical method to determine moisture in various kinds of food. Frequency shift and attenuation of the resonance are measured and converted into a moisture value that is independent of varying product density. Regarding the biomedical applications - Microwave Resonance Therapy is a new medical treatment, which represents a synthesis of the ancient Chinese traditional knowledge in medicine (acupuncture) and recent breakthroughs in biophysics. Affecting the appropriate acupuncture points through the generation of high frequency microwaves(52-78 GHz), remarkable clinical results are being achieved in various forms of surgery, orthopedic and traumatology, cardiovascular disorders, etc. In the process of therapy, exposure of an acupuncture point to noise radiation of extremely high frequency (EHF) returns the stimulated acupuncture system of the patient to the initial normal state by selecting a normal resonance frequency from the broad noise EHF band, and the body biochemically copes with disease. The project assessment will consider also the novelty of the scientific information and the modalities of project approach and sustaining.
