Abstract:
The sun is a source of energy. It inspires us and stimulates us to find new initiatives in life. People all over the world are becoming more aware of the potential effects climate change will have upon us. Political decision-makers are committed to limiting global CO2 emissions and helping to promote environmentally friendly power generation. When building a new home or remodeling an existing one, we must pay attention to details such as passive solar design (taking advantage of the sun`s ability to heat the house in winter simply by proper house orientation and window sizing), roof overhangs (which can be designed to keep the sunlight out in summer and let it shine in during the winter), daylighting (allowing the sun to provide much of the home`s lighting needs during the day), and other factors. A modern green home will also be built using materials that are renewable, have been recycled or have been created with a limited negative impact on the environment. The newest materials which can be used have polymeric origin and the surfaces of the solar cells can be covered with nanosubstances that improve self washing, became hydrophobic surfaces and substances with antireflection structure like “moth eye”. Home design can improve the performances of the green energy, coming from sun or wind. The advantages followed are: optimized for all sunlight condition, more power per m2, robust and durable design.
