Abstract:
We present the results of Monte Carlo simulations of the dynamic properties of polymeric chains confined in a tube. The simulations were conducted in the canonical ensemble and we used the bead-spring model of a macromolecule. We first obtained the radius of gyration of the trapped polymer as a function of temperature and we compared these values with values obtained for the same polymer in free space. We also computed the necessary time for polymer to escape from the confining tube, explaining the entropic nature of the driving force.
