Abstract:
A lifting line theory in inviscid, incompressible, steady flow for the determination of the circulation and aerodynamics coefficients of a curved and swept wing of high aspect ratio is presented. The method relies on the 1/4-3/4 rule and couples it to the three-dimensional effects induced on the flow by curvature and swept angle.It leads to an integro-differential equation where the unknown is the circulation. This equation has been solved numerically by the aid of a Gauss-type quadrature. The comparison with lifting- surface theory and other lifting line theories reveals a good agreement in terms of circulation and lift coefficient.
