Abstract:
Charge tranfer in macromolecules has been investigate relative to sample prepared by using polypirrolle and doped polyethlene in respect of current injection controlled by space charge mechanism. This process is characteristic to materials populated with large amount of traps. In organic structures oxygen attack leading to C=O bond formation contributed to the enhancement of the concentration of acceptor defects . Samples deposited by droplet approach onto copper or silver electrodes were investigated in respect with I-V characteristics after thermal treatment in air in the range of 25- 80 C . The population of C=O bonds was monitored by FTIR spectrometry using the intensity of the corresponding absorption band at about 1720cm-1. The current voltage characteristic were fitted by using different mechanisms of electric conduction according to the level of injection. The role of oxygen bonding on electronic structure has been analyzed by calculating the change of the gap between LUMO and HOMO levels of a large polymer chain versus the percentage of C=O bonds relative to the population of C=C groups. A model for the charge transport mechanism influenced by oxygen bonding to macromolecular structure is proposed.
