Abstract:
The prompt fission neutron multiplicity and spectra for the neutron induced fission of 238U are calculated up to 20 MeV incident energy. A model based on the neutron emission from fully accelerated fission fragments was used. It takes into account only one fragmentation and average values of model parameters. For the main fissioning nucleus 239U these parameters, depending on the incident energy, were obtained in the frame of the PbP model. The average parameters of the secondary fissioning nuclei 238-236U were obtained from the systematic behavior of model parameters recently developed. The probabilities of each fission chance were taken as ratios of fission cross sections from recent evaluations. The total prompt fission neutron multiplicity and spectrum results describe well the existing experimental data, proving the predictive power of the present model.
