Abstract: ABSTRACT
For free electron lasers a new undulator structure was presented. The current structure is a stacks of wires. Each wire has a Huygens transversal projection. The current has alternating directions. In cylindrical coordinates the Biot - Savart law was evaluated numerically. Also it’s easily adjusted with the current. The magnetic field aspect was mainly transversal.
One of the trends in free-electron laser (FEL) is the studies concerning the FEL principal component ( wiggler or undulator) where the phenomenon of coherent radiation take place. In this preliminary note the magnetic field component was mainly transversal. For longitudinal undulator the magnetic field component was mainly longitudinal and so the beam need a transversal momentum .
The curent undulator structure is a stacks of wires with current in alternating directions. Each stack member is composed of two wires with curents in alternating directions. This two wires constitute a garland. The values of x and z magnetic components are significantly less the y one.
This modified Huygens undulator produce a spatially periodic transversal y magnetic field component. The field integrals are evaluated by the equivalent ordinary differential equation. So the computing time was reduced with 30 per cent.
