Abstract:
The thermoluminescence is the phenomenon of thermally stimulated light emission by some crystals with impurities. These impurities can capture electrons from the conduction band and holes from the valence band, being called electron and hole traps. After heating, some of the electrons are released and will recombine with trapped holes emitting a light radiation. Rock salt is a natural rock which presents the thermoluminescence phenomenon. In this paper, the thermoluminescent response of rock salt from Slanic Prahova salt ore is presented.Experimentally, we observed a variation with depth in salt ore of the thermoluminescent response of salt rock and a dependence of impurity concentration. We also observed a dependence of the thermoluminescent response of sample weight.
