Abstract:
Organic semiconductors are a new class of materials offering a great potential for electronic and optoelectronic applications because of the large variety of organic compounds, their special properties interest because of the large variety of organic compounds and their special properties and low production cost compared to inorganic semiconductor. To investigate the electrical conduction properties of the semiconductor/perylene derivative/semiconductor heterostructures we have firstly obtained 3,4,9,10-perylenetetracarboxylic dianhydride (PTCDA) and perylene layers on silicon substrates by a two-steps, vacuum evaporation and deposition process. To draw the I-V characteristics of these heterostructures we have used a typical 2 points perpendicular contact geometry in an experimental set-up with a Keithley 2400 Source Meter with an electronic (automatic) data acquisition system. The importance of the space-charge phenomenon on the electronic transport in these structures has been emphasised.
