Abstract:
The general question which will make the object of this paper is the homogenization of some problems arising in the modelling of chemical reactive flows through porous media. Our nonlinear problems concern the stationary reactive flow of a fluid confined in a perforated domain, reacting on the boundary of the perforations. We shall be interested in getting the asymptotic behavior, when the size of the perforations goes to zero, of these reactive flows. As we shall see, this effective behavior is described by a new elliptic boundary-value problem containing an extra zero-order term which captures the effect of the chemical reactions taking place on the boundaries of the perforations.
