Title:
On metal pollution in Copsa Mica area

Abstract:
An extensive study and monitoring of the heavy metal pollution of the Copsa Mica area (Sibiu, Romania) was conducted. The Pb, Zn, Cd, Cu concentration in the Tarnava Mare river water down-stream Copsa Mica town was monitored in the time period 1993-2001. The average concentration in each year and the variation of the above mentioned metals concentration during 2001 is presented in detail. The concentration of Pb and Cd in air in the same area and time period was performed and results are presented as well. We found a significant decrease of the concentration of the above mentioned metals in the Tarnava Mare river down-stream Copsa Mica and in the air in the monitoring area beginning with 1994 and than a slight increase during 2000, as the plant activity slightly intensified.
