Abstract:
A method for functional analysis and simulation of passively optically Q-switched solid state laser is presented. This method is based on defining the ABCD matrix of the studied laser resonators. An important feature of the presented method consists in the fact that it permits the computer analysis and simulation of the laser intensity spatial variations, especially the transverse one regarding the resonator axis. The developed analysis and simulation method permits to consider the optical characteristics of laser resonator components, especially active medium and passive optical Q-switch crystal. The validation of the developed analysis and simulation method is performed by comparison of its predictions with experimental results obtained by investigating passively Q-switched Nd:YAG pulsed pumped lasers. A good agreement between simulation and experimental data was observed.
