Abstract:
The effective behavior of the solution of a changing-type semilinear evolution equation modeling thermal diffusion in some heterogeneous periodic media is analyzed. We consider a heat equation, with highly oscillating coefficients, with nonlinear sources and with suitable boundary and initial conditions. Using an homogenization procedure, we prove that the effective behavior of the solution of such a problem is governed by a new partial differential equation, which can be of parabolic or elliptic type.
