Tests and measurements for filtering system and clean rooms used in special materials manufacturing technologies

Abstract:
Manufacturing technologies which aim special materials manufacturing, include, necessarily, places that require systems which produce or use the purified air so to protect both operator staff and the environment, but also to provide an appropriate atmosphere for developing such processes which require a high degree of cleanliness. For tests and measurements of filtering systems and clean rooms used in special materials manufacturing, Laboratory Testing and Nuclear Expertise of Research and Development Institute for Physics and Nuclear Engineering Horia Hulubei (IFIN-HH) is notified by the National Commission for Nuclear Activities Control (CNCAN) and in accreditation process by RENAR. For this kind of activities, there is experience, competent staff, highly qualified and necessary equipment to ensure compliance with national legislation but also with EU demands. IFIN-HH manufacturing technologies which aim special materials manufacturing, are: (a) obtaining radioisotopes and radio pharmaceuticals; (b) carrying out special detectors. The systems which produce or use purified air forming part of these processes, needs a number of specific tests, both their installation, certification and maintenance. International legislation, but also the national one, recommend specific tests for determining the filtering systems and the clean rooms parameters. Generally there are: (a) systems/ installations which produce purified air (air purification / filtering systems; (b) systems/ installations which use purified air (clean rooms). Performance evaluation of filtering systems and clean rooms, requires the fulfillment of specific conditions. The activities in Testing and Nuclear Expertise Laboratory of IFIN-HH notified and accredited are performed according to the Quality Management System, which allow us to perform tests following the defined procedures and brought under regulation; interpretation of tests obtained data compared with the acceptance and compliance determination standard; the quality of tests obtained data to be fully controlled due to maintenance of a high level of quality system which allow detection, removal and prevention of any error concerning measurement results. Considering the above, Testing and Nuclear Expertise Laboratory of IFIN-HH, will honor the requests of another manufacturers of special materials.
