Abstract:
The X-band EPR spectra of two species of Basidiomycota: Agaricus campestris and Pleurotus ostreatus and one specie of Ascomycota: Morchella esculenta irradiated with 60Co gamma ray at doses up to 11 kGy were investigated at room temperature. Every one of investigated specimen are among the best prized edible mushrooms. All samples presented intense EPE spectra consisting of one (Pleurotus ostreatus, Morchella esculenta) ore more lines (Agaricus campestris) whose intensity monotonously increase with the dose. Isothermal annealing has showed in the case of irradiated Agaricus samples a remarkable stability of EPR spectra. Moreover, the amplitude of one line positively correlates with the annealing time. All observed peculiarities recommend mushrooms as suitable systems for future EPR investigations concerning both time stability and the nature of radiation centers.
