Abstract: Solid state lasers have undergone a renaissance since the development of reliable and cheap laser diodes which can be used as pump source. Diode Pumped Solid State Lasers (DPSSL) are compact, efficient laser sources which are attractive for a wide range of applications. Micro-laser uses a tiny solid-state laser medium and motivated by its compactness and simplicity represent the new generation of DPSSL .
We realized a Q-switched diode pumped micro-laser using a Cr:YAG crystal as saturable absorber. One surface of laser rod was coated so that the reflectivity was high (>99%) at 1064 nm wavelength and high transmission at 808 nm pump wavelength. The output mirror of the laser resonator is a plane mirror with the 95% reflectivity at 1064 nm. The output laser parameters are : Pulse energy of 30-55 ƒÝJ, with 9-14 ns pulse-width was obtained . Further improvements of the laser system are under development.
