Abstract:
The natural and synthetical polymers, as modern materials with ample and various technical and economic utilities, owe their exceptional applicability to the structural particularities and physical and chemical properties that derive from them. There is no technical and economic producing area where polymers are not present, sometimes being irreplaceable. From the limited bakelite applications, as the first plastic material exclusively synthetic, until the superconductor poliarilacetilen, technically and technologically, there have been passed huge distances. A considerable part of the synthetical polymers have totally particular technological, technical and scientific qualities. A good example are elastomers; the high elasticity of these polymers, meaning their property of enduring relative reversible elongations of about (6/8)*102 makes them irreplaceable in many technical producing areas. Polymers, especially elastomers, may be compared - through their importance within the economy development - with metals, building materials, raw materials and fuels of great utility for the technical and social progress. The synthetical rubber production designed to making up pneumatic products, tires, foils and pellicles that can resist at chemical and thermo mechanical agents, has acquired over the last few years unexpected technical and scientific valences and proportions. Natural origin polymers also show interest concerning their applicability. Polysaccharides, water-soluble polymers of natural origin, have a vast utilization in industry because of their capacity to modify the rheological properties of water, even for low strength of polymers.
