Abstract:
The evaluation is often confused with the notation, especially by people who do not work in education. The notation is often considered as a means of punishing or rewarding students. In physics, the evaluation methods include oral, written and supplementary examination. The teacher must apply these methods considering the student’s learning styles knowing that the majority are visual learning styles, while the auditory and kinesthetic learning styles are disadvantaged. Referring to physics, the exclusive application of oral and written assessment methods leads to poor evaluation results of the high school students in large classes. Application of complementary teaching and assessment methods leads to better results in teaching physics. Project and portfolio methods are greatly appreciated by all students, particularly those whose dominant learning style is kinesthetic. By their nature, these two methods allow a differential and a more objective evaluation of the students. These teaching methods help the students to find the a profession according to their skills and provide jobs in various fields.
