Abstract:
The inseparability of states is a quantum phenomenon that has no classical analogue. It has important applications, especially in quantum information theory. We discuss the necessary and sufficient conditions for mixed two-spin-1/2 states to be separable. Horodecki et al. showed that the family of mixed states lies within a tetrahedron, whose vertices are the elements of the Bell basis, while the separable states belong to an octahedron. We present an analysis of the states belonging to the Horodecki’s diagram.
