Abstract:
Materials of langasite family are widely studied due to their very good piezoelectric characteristics, especially at high temperature. They have a partially disordered structure i. e. one of the crystallographic positions are shared by two cations. The aim of this report is to analyse the EPR spectrum of 3+ chromium ions replacing Ta ions in the langatate, La3Ga5.5Ta0.5O14, matrix.Spectra in X band are measured on single crystals grown in INFLPR Institute. Due to a very high zero field splitting only one transition, between the Zeeman levels of the lower doublet, is observed. A perturbation analysis, in higer order of perturbation, is performed, considering the zero field terms in the spin Hamiltonian as the zero order perturbation. the spin Hamiltonian parameters are determined and the line broadening is correlated with the lattice disorder.
