Abstract:
Operation of a magneto optical trap based on Cs atoms requires more laser rays. The most important characteristic of the laser sources used in such application is the frequency stability. We will describe realization and alignment of an extended cavity laser diode system in Littrow configuration. The laser diode radiation is locked on the desired frequency by using a lock-in technique. The reference frequency is obtained by means of a simple saturated absorbtion spectrometer developed around a 3cm long glass cell containing Cs vapors. The developed system is intended for using in optical pumping and detection of Cs atoms in a magneto optical trap.
