Abstract: A surprising plasticity behaviour of SrTiO3 (STO) single crystals on a large range of temperatures was recently discovered at the Max-Planck Institute for Metals Research in Stuttgart, Germany [1-3]. One of the striking features is the plasticity down to cryogenic temperatures. At 78 K tensile stresses of about 300 MPa are measured up to high tensile strains of about 7%. At room temperature tensile stresses of about 120 MPa are measured. The presentation will be focussed on the recent results of TEM investigations allowing a deeper insight in the mechanisms of the dislocations movement controlling the plasticity of STO single crystals.
