Abstract:
The aim of the present paper is the study of the indoor pollution in ferro-alloy industry, using a dispersion model. The model for indoor dispersion of the air pollutants supposes the closed working area divided in a suitable number of cells with possible air communication between each other. The hall is also supposed to communicate with its exterior, both by accidental air leakages and through the ventilation system. The air currents exchanged between various cells as well as between the cells and the exterior are considered as input data. The same is for the pollutant production in each furnace, which may follow a complex process of charging, heating and discharging. The results of the used model reveal the rendering capacity of the complex situations (multiple emission sources with exceeded emission time), the evolution of the pollutant concentrations in time and the estimation the effects of filtering certain compounds as well as for the design of pollution control systems within working spaces.
