Abstract:
The usage of polymeric materials in the construction of ionizing chambers with special applications it is based on two main characteristics: -the affinity in respect to the standard tissue - characteristics of an insulator material The electric signal of an ionizing chamber is the ionizing current, proportional with the absorbed dose rate. The accuracy of this proportionality is dependent on the resistance of the insulator between the electrodes of the chamber, as well as the leakage of the electrical charges on the insulator surfaces. These are the arguments that result in the initiation of some systematic research activities regarding the electric characteristics of some polymeric materials used in the construction of ionizing chambers. This work presents some significant results obtained in the last years research on this subject.
