Abstract:
The onset of the chaotic behavior in the nuclear medium continued to be investigated by studying the time evolution of the nucleons in a 2D Woods-Saxon potential well for a few specific physical cases. The couplings between the single particle and the collective degrees of freedom in the presence of dissipation for several multipolarities of the vibrational collective modes were taken into account. A classical version of the nuclear billiard was used and a Bohr Hamiltonian was employed. By comparing the order-to-chaos transition for several physical cases of interest from adiabatic to resonance regime, it was shown that intermittences showed up in the vicinity of the resonance regime no matter what orders of multipolarity we chose, from monopole to octopole. Moreover, by emphasizing a correlation between the slope and the chi squared over the number of degrees of freedom of the maximal Liapunov exponents versus evolution time in log-log scale, we propose a new signature for putting in evidence the order to chaos transition.
