Abstract:
One significant part of health problems related to atmospheric pollutants, since particles having diameters less than 10 ƒÝm can penetrate deep into the respiratory system. The aim of this paper is the study of this type of particles. Therefore a climatological atmospheric dispersion model has been applied to compute the daily and annual mean concentrations of pollutant particles in different points around an industrial area, where the coal is transported and processed. The various meteorological conditions were used to evaluate the concentrations at different points of this area. The calculated concentrations have been compared with the international standards for this type of the industrial field. There are also presented the conclusions concerning the pollution level from this area. The results obtained can be used for taking decisions, which affect directly the safety of the public and the environment around major sources of this type of pollution in Romania.
