Abstract:
The study of the contact between a liquid and a solid surface and the behavior of some solid polymers materials in contact with different liquids has a big practical interest, because this behavior can affect the whole system where such material is used. The study can be performed by the surface energy determinations in several conditions. This paper presents our study about the behavior of some materials such as: polythylene, polypropylene, polyamide and silicone, in contact with different liquids, based or the Kaeble method to determine the superficial energy of the solids. As a result, we concluded that the sealing qualities of the silicon emulsion used as plasto-elastic sealant are very high and such materials can be successfully be used as waterproof sealant.
