Abstract:
In an international context, the correlation between EEG and fMRI signals represents an actual challenge, by the numerous possible applications in clinical diagnosis and research. The correlation between signals acquired using electroencephalography (EEG) and fMRI techniques were investigated during visual stimulation. Evoked potentials EEG and BOLD-fMRI signals were acquired independently under similar stimulation conditions. BOLD-fMRI signals were acquired using a General Electric 1,5T LX MRI system with birdcage head coil, with an EPI-BOLD sequence. The EEG signals were acquired using a standard 10/20 electrodes placement system. The subject was visual stimulated using a flickering checkerboard at every 500ms for 3 seconds followed by 21 seconds of rest condition. The results showed a spatial correlation between the EEG and BOLD-fMRI signals, but no temporal correlation.
