Abstract:
(Pb0.9La0.1)(Zr0.2Ti0.8)O3 (PLZT) thin films have been deposited by pulsed laser ablation. A parametric study has been performed to evidence the influence of the laser wavelength (265 nm, 355 nm, 530 nm and 1060 nm), laser fluence (2-25 J/cm2), oxygen pressure (0.2-0.8 mbar) and substrate temperature (500-700 0C) on the dielectric constant and on the piezoelectric properties. The structural quality and phase purity was evaluated using X-ray diffraction. The ferroelectric PLZT materials possess one of the highest piezoelectric coefficients in ceramic materials. At higher La concentration (5-7%) these coefficients reach the maximum values. It is shown that the deposition pressure is one of the key parameters in order to obtain films with good properties. A correlation between the response of PLZT and increasing pressure and La concentration is observed.
