Abstract:
In the larger context of detection of high energy cosmic particles using the radio signal generated by the charge excess in showers developing in a dense medium (the Askaryan effect) we have developed and analysed a series of simulations of electromagnetic showers in salt.
Influence of the medium`s composition and geometry on the shower`s profiles and charge excess has been investigated.
For the simulations we have used GEANT4.9, a C++-based tool for geometry and tracking of particles.
