Abstract:
The radiation emitted by semiconductor lasers, optical coupled with an extended optical cavity and in presence of an optical feedback, shows nonlinear behaviors which are generic all named chaotic dynamics. This dynamics of the laser emission improves or worsens the beam quality depending of operation regimes and set parameters. The laser emission with a chaotic dynamics is of interest for information coding and transmission on optical carrier. In the present paper we show experimental data concerning the characterization of the chaotic emission of an extended cavity – semiconductor laser (ECSL) system. The chaotic dynamic control of the laser emission was obtained by injection current, temperature or feedback coefficient variation, at LFF regime (threshold injection current conditions).
