Abstract: The structure of the school year allows the organizing of some informal activities that encourage learning Physics beyond the rigid limits of the classrooms and school laboratories. Partnerships with economic agents, cultural and research institutes place the student into a real study and work environment. The research institutes offer students the chance to explore reality using modern equipments, unavailable in school laboratories, due to the complexity of the experimental fitting required and/or the high costs involved. Moreover, students benefit from the guidance of experts in using these devices, thus acquiring skills in scientific research. In this paper, I presented the effectiveness of the lessons carried out in research institutes. They help students develop their competences regarding experimental investigation as well as achieving a scientific way of thinking, both specific to the Physics research area.
