The problem of factorization of a differential equation of hypergeometric type is re-analysed, and some of the corresponding raising and lowering operators are re-obtained in a simpler way. A minor error existing in the literature concerning this subject is corrected. The factorization of differential equations of hypergeometric type is directly related to the factorization of some Schrodinger type operators. Almost all the known solvable Schrodinger equations can be analysed by using the algebraic method of raising and lowering operators, method well-known in the case of harmonic oscillator.
