Abstract:
Because the technique and technology progress, and finally progress of human society can only be achieved through research and study, and conventional energy sources are exhaustible, we consider the study of photovoltaic phenomena in learning on school and on the circles of physics. In this paper, we present the results obtained from the characterization of a solar cell based on a monocrystalline silicon p-n junction. The action spectra of the cell permited the determination of the band-gap of Si. The Current-Voltage (I-V) characteristics is nonlinear, asymmetric with rectifying factor of 20 at 0.5 V. Using the I-V characteristics in forward bias the value of 1.4 and 108, were obtained for the ideality factor and saturation current of the p-n junction, respectively. From the I-V characteristics in forth quadrant at illumination, the typical parameters as photoelement were obtained: Uoc = 0.5V, Isc = -3.89mA, FF = 0.74 and ç = 7.3%.
