Abstract:
The results concerning X as well as Q band EPR spectra of 60Co gamma ray irradiated Limnonectes macrodon frog legs are presented and discussed. Investigated EPR spectra showed with clarity the presence of two species of free radicals, whose overall X and Q band spectrum pointed toward an axial local symmetry with a small orthorhombic distortion. The Arrhenius plot of 15 kGy irradiated bones evidenced two different kinetic regimes with different activation energies while an isothermal annealing at 100 oC confirmed these observations pointing towards a significantly more labile irradiation radicals with respect to mammal bone tissue. Moreover, both X and Q band spectra showed the presence of Mn2+ ions.
