Abstract:
In the framework of the anisotropic dielectric continuum model the polar vibrations of a quasi-one-dimensional (Q1D) semicon- ductor structure made of anisotropic uniaxial materials are obtained. The Frohlich Hamiltonian describing the interaction of conduction electrons with optical phonons of both types (the surface/interface phonons and the confinate phonons) is derived for the first time. In the context of weak electron- phonon interaction, the polaron problem in a typical quantum- well-wire structure is solved within the perturbation method.
