Abstract:
The concept of “nuclear matter jets” is an interesting tool for selecting different event structures such as: single-jet events, two-jet events, three-jet events, and non-jet events in He+AT at 4.5 A GeV/c collisions. When the studied data sample consists of dynamically very similar events, event-by-event fluctuations are expected to be small. On the contrary, when different classes of events are present, the fluctuations from one event to another are obviously much higher (various classes of events may exhibit different global characteristics). The event by event fluctuations of the multiplicity of charged particles Nch and of the transverse momentum pT observed in He+AT collisions, for different jet classes, could indicate a transition from a mechanism of particle production to another, or maybe a phase transition, especially in the class of non jet events.Different fluctuation measures were used to detect the onset of a phase transition which could explain, also, the intriguing sideway particle emission.
