Abstract:
Carbon fibers obtained by PAN oxidation with subsequent thermal treatment up to 2000°C is a well-established method. The mechanical properties are strongly dependent of the initial precursor, mainly of PAN tacticity. A regular, highly oriented Carbon fiber claims a PAN syndiotactic, practically impossible to be reached. The aim of this paper proposes a new method to obtain a new class of bi-dimensional Carbon using the PAN pyrolysis assisted by centrifugal field. The role of the centrifugal field is to avoid the faults in tacticity. The crystallinity degree and the structure were investigated with Raman and XRD. Carbon fibers in initial oxidation stages show a well-organized pyridinic structure. Keywords: Carbon, bi-dimensional Carbon
