Abstract:
The last ten days of May was the period when the weather phenomena had manifested a greater magnitude than usual. Specific phenomena for instability have been manifested during this period, such as torrential showers, frequent lightning, hail and wind intensification for short time. Amount of water accumulated and recorded, was in generally two times higher than specific annual average value for that area. The effects of these events were felt in the field, with a greater impact in the central region and in the mountain area, too. During this period of monitoring, were issued weather alerts and meteorological warnings, based on information provided by satellite imagery and Doppler WSR 98-D radar.
