Abstract:
Within the LAGUNA project (Large Apparatus for Grand Unification and Neutrino Astrophysics), the Unirea salt mine from Slănic Prahova area is one of a possible places for building a mega neutrino detector. The main objectives of this future laboratory will be the study of neutrinos properties from different sources and proton decay. The nuclear reactors are important sources of neutrinos and in this paper we analyze the background radiation introduced in the experiment by nuclear plants like Cernavoda (Romania) and Kozloduy (Bulgaria). Because the two reactors are at different distances from the detector (Cernavoda ~ 238 km, Kozloduy ~ 194 km, respectively), in this contribution we also investigate the Physics potential to study the long base distances neutrino oscillations phenomena.
