Abstract:
This contribution explores the wild algae potential from Black SEA and Romanian rivers to obtain biodiesel using advanced methods for extraction.Water samples collected from two locations: the Black Sea and Sabar river. They are cultivated in aerated 5L flasks for wild algae strain growth. Three growth media were used: sea water, artifficial saliva and artifficial saliva/phosphate buffer. For culture processing and lipid extraction different methods are evaluated: ultrasonication, microwave and soxhlet extraction. GC analysis revealed a 87,55% FAME (fatty-acid methyl ester) content for the Sabar river sample. For improved productivity a tubular bioreactor model was built. The biomass concentration was determined daily by UV/VIS absorbance analysis in the 400-700 nm region during two weeks. Different parameters were monitored such as pH, COD, conductivity, and dissolved oxygen. Note: Note:This work was financially supported by contract POSDRU/107/1.5/S/ 80765 and POSDRU/107/1.5/S/ 82514
