Abstract:
The methodology used for free release of the materials arising from the VVR-S reactor decommissioning is described and commented. It complies with Romanian standards and international recommendations that regulate the nuclear industry. All materials used during the nuclear reactor operation are a potential radioactive waste. The free releases role is to reduce these materials amounts, demonstrating that the radioactivity contained within these materials shall not involve a significant risk for public and environment.
