Abstract:
A large interest has developed in the area of nanostructured materials because of their unique physical properties and wide variety of applications. We have been exploring a synthesis method for preparing micro- and nanostructured materials as carbon nanofibers (CNFs). This method require synthesizing the desired material within the catalytic and thermal decomposition of a ferrocene-toluene mixture using 2.53 MHz radio frequency plasma assisted CVD (RFPACVD). The use of metal catalysts such as Fe, Fe-Cu, Ni and Mo has been explored in an effort to control the size and morphology of carbon nanostructures formed through the decomposition of hydrocarbons reactor. We extend this new method to the production of fibrils and nanotubes
