Abstract:
The model solves numerically the equations for turbulence diffusion of radon isotopes and their progeny,using a finite difference scheme centered in space and back in time, after the introduction of a dimensionless logarithmic scale for the vertical coordinate. The model estimates the vertical distributions of 222Rn, 220Rn and their descendants, activity reports descendant-parent, unattached fraction and the equilibrium factor in lower atmosphere. The model takes into account the radioactive decay, the attachment of aerosol particles, the recoil, dry deposition, rainout and washout processes.
