Many natural landscapes and other images from different physical phenomena such as turbulence, surface texture, radiographic images etc. contrary to the mathematical fractals encounter difficulties in defining the fractal dimension. We did a complete theoretical analysis of the correctness of the fractal dimension deduced in these cases using standard box counting method.
It was emphasized the selfsimilarity of the image on a different degree of luminance in different parts of the object. A series of program code were built in order to analyze properties of the image and to obtain the desired fractal dimension.
