Abstract:
Glass - ceramic powders were crystallized from glass with chemical composition 2MeO – 2Al2O3 – 5SiO2 (Me = equimolar mixture of Mg and Ni) by annealing at different temperatures between 800 and 1200C. The evolution of structural transformations with annealing temperature was monitored by X-ray diffraction (XRD). Quantitative phase analysis was performed by Rietveld method. The XRD analysis revealed that the first crystalline phase is Mg-containing aluminate spinel formed after heating up to 950C. In the samples annealed at higher temperatures the Ni-containing aluminate spinel phase is also observed.
