Abstract:
The intrinsic spin Hall conductivity is obtained for a two-dimensional electronic gas (2DEG) in presence of strain, Rashba coupling and an external in-plane applied magnetic field. The conduction electrons of [001] oriented quantum well (QW) are used to model the 2DEG. The spin current can be controlled by a stress applied to the QW: it is independent on stress applied in direction [001](T.O. Cheche, Phys. Rev.B 73, 113301 (2006)) and dependent on stress applied in directions [011], [101] or [111].
